Election of Convention Representatives

Dear members,

Please be advised that our Local is looking for four representatives to serve on the convention board. According to our constitution, these four members would be elected during our normally scheduled election (May 15). However, that time frame does not line up with that of the Central Alberta Teachers’ Convention Association (CATCA). They require our representatives to be selected and present for a meeting on May 12th, 2014. As such, we are requesting all members interested in the position submit their name to me by 4:00pm on April 23rd.

Should more than four names be brought forward, we will need to conduct an election. I will inform our members at that time of the names put forward and if an election is needed.

The duties of a convention representative to the Local are as follows (duties and expectations of the representative towards CATCA are in addition and decided by that organization):

• It shall be the duty of the convention representative to serve the ATA local on the Convention Committee

• Provide communication between the convention board and the Local

• Bring direction on behalf of the Local to the convention board
